Should You Caulk the Whole Inside of Your Log House?

March 6, 2024

Cover photo

I would recommend not caulking on the inside of your log home unless absolutely necessary. Caulking should be done on the outside of the building envelope, not on the inside. The issue with caulking on the inside of a log home is that if you get a leak from the outside a lot of times you will not be able to see it if you've caulked the inside, but the caulking will trap the water and it will rot the logs on the outside before you realize what's going on. If you caulk properly on the outside you will have all the air infiltration stopped without causing a possible problem in the future with rot.
